SNOW OVAL RETURNS, FOR NOS ENERGY DRINK GRASSROOTS FINALE
High Banked Oval, Costume of Cross Contest, and End of Season Appreciation Scheduled for March 10th
With high-banked turns and pancake flat straights, the final NOS Energy Drink Grassroots event of the season harkens back to simpler times in the snowmobile industry. A time when open megaphone exhausts, cleated tracks, and high-banked snow oval racing was king. While the focus will be on vintage racing, all traditional Thursday night classes will be featured including 120 and Trail classes.
“Last year’s rain put a damper on our inaugural snow oval event,” said track co-owner Chris Carlson. “We really want to capture some of the excitement surrounding the vintage snowmobile scene. We know a lot of guys won’t snocross their old sleds for fear of breaking them, but we intend on keeping the oval smooth and tailor it for the older sleds.”
Featured classes for the night will include leaf spring fan and open sleds as well as vintage 1995 sleds. Racing will start at 5:00pm and the evening will also include some end of year shenanigans such as the return of the costume of cross contest (simply dress up and be eligible to win prizes). The evening’s theme will be “dead animal on your head”, with prizes for fans and racers sporting the most bizarre and creative fur headgear. We're stepping things up for the year-end costume contest: $100 for the best vintage suit. $100 for the best costume.
This will not be a points race, we will be announcing season points champions and handing out trophies during the intermission.
As always, racers are strongly encouraged to pre-register for the race well in advance of the 4:00pm cut-off. Due to the incredible growth of the grassroots series, registration deadlines will be adhered to and late entries will be turned-away. Registration is just $35 for the first class, and $50 for Semi-Pro and Pro Am with a 50% payback. Spectators pay just $10 for an evening of fun with kids 12 and under FREE.
